Aesop Rock - Daylight

These lyrics stood out to me in this song:

Photobucket

"Life's not a bitch, life is a beautiful woman, you only call her a bitch because she won't let you get that pussy. Maybe she didn't feel ya'll shared any similar interests, or maybe you're just an asshole who couldn't sweet talk the princess."

A lot of the mainstream rap songs these days go on bashing and degrading women. This verse here, though a little explicit, just reminds me there ARE rappers out there sending a positive view of women. That women are BEAUTIFUL, deserve to be respected and not all of us put it all out there.

Then comes rapper Drake- "Baby you're my everything, you're all I ever wanted. We can do it real big, bigger than you ever done it. You the fuckin' best, you the fuckin' best..." FINALLY! Just what the rap game needed! A fresh face with a fresh attitude. He has the ability to create a catchy tune putting out something that doesn't belittle women. I'd rather have my little cousins growing up on "you the you the best" over "drop and gimmie 50" ANY DAY. I look forward to what Drake has in store! I know he's just going up from here.

Happiness-

Ephesians 4:23
Be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind.

Having a fresh and mental spiritual attitude. Face adversity and move through it. I need to remind myself of this everyday. FOR ME, the key to happiness isn't measured by the good things that happen to me on a daily basis. The key to my happiness is being able to look above the negativity and celebrating the wins in my life. To celebrate the fact that I have a steady job, that I'm healthy after getting into 2 accidents within 4 months, that my mom STILL nags me at 22 and that she does it because she loves me. During the times I'm down I have to remind myself it's up to me to rise above the situation and I'm able to do all this through Christ who strengthens me.

GREAT READS!

Photobucket

A WOLF AT THE TABLE-
This book is a memoir based on Augusten Burrough's father. His demented father. It was an interesting read and being that he's one of my favorite author's I had to read it! I've read all his books and this was #2 following 'Running With Scissors' for being his most engrossing/twisted/chilling novels. A good read if you're into the psychological aspect of the human personality.

THE 25th HOUR-
ONE OF MY favorite books EVER! Each chapter just engulfed into the life of this man who has 25 hours left until he spends 7 years in jail. It's crazy how David Benioff can get you to relate to each and every one of the characters in this novel- even though they're fictitious! I COULD NOT STOP READING it once I started it! LOVED IT. LOVE LOVE LOVE DAVID BENIOFF!
